Conference by Arnaud Chassery, professional explorer

About Societex

Last week, our team and Senior Advisors got together for an event focusing on surpassing oneself, inclusion and group cohesion.
Professional explorer Arnaud Chassery was on hand to give us an inspiring talk on this theme.

Arnaud shared with us his impressive career path, which includes five Channel crossings, crossing the Straits of Gibraltar, completing the Ice Mile in water at 4.3 degrees and co-founding the international expedition ‘Nager au-delà des frontières’ with Philippe Croizon.
This last expedition enabled the two men to swim across five continents in 100 days!

He also told us about his charity Alopias, founded in 2008 following the success of his first Channel crossing. The association organises solidarity and sporting expeditions focusing on three themes: disability, the environment and heritage conservation.

In 2021, they launched the “Handi’cap sur…” expedition programme, enabling people with disabilities to realise their dreams of adventure.

  • Handi’cap to Tanzania with Thomas, who suffers from Charge syndrome (visually and hearing impaired), to meet the local tribes.
  • Handi’cap to Polynesia with six young swimmers with disabilities who made the 7.5-hour trip from Tahiti to Moorea, covering a distance of 18 km.
  • Handi’cap on the Amazon

In a few days’ time, Arnaud will be setting off on a new adventure, the Kilimanjaro expedition “We all have a mountain to climb”. Societex, one of the sponsors of this expedition, is supporting the aim of taking Lise, a teenager with a leg amputation, to the summit of Africa’s highest peak (5,895m).
We’ll keep you posted on this extraordinary adventure soon!
